No-Bake Granola Bars

Recently, while browsing the blog cookies and cups, Grant saw a recipe that he said we must try. It was for No-Bake Granola bars -- it looked easy and didn't require a lot of work or ingredients. I told Grant that once he finished all of the Quaker Chewy Bars then we would make them. So, today while we were grocery shopping we bought all of the needed items to make these bars. Here is the recipe for the bars and a link to visit cookies and cups blog. It is a must view blog so pop over there and check out all of the yummy treats that she cooks up.

Homemade Granola Bars
Adapted from cookies & cups recipe

4T butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 cups granola (I used Cascadian Farm Organic Oats & Honey)
1 cup rice cereal
1/2 cup pretzels sticks, broken in half
1/2 t salt
1/4 cup mini-choc chips
1/4 cup peanut butter chips
1/4 cup slivered almonds

Combine butter, brown sugar, honey & salt in saucepan and melt over medium-high heat until sugar is dissolved.

Remove from heat and mix in all ingredients except the choc chips & pb chips. Spread in an ungreased pan (9x13 for thinner bars and 8x8 for thicker bars).

Chill in refrigerator for 15 minutes and then cut into bars.

Add your own mix-ins for a variety of granola bars.

  1. They turned out really yummy. I think I like them better than Grant but that is okay. I would add raisins to the next batch. We decided we would make a few batches and take with us camping this summer -- a filling snack while hiking and horse back riding.
