Fave Holiday Appetizers

Food always triggers memories, especially around the holidays. One of my fond food memories is of a basic cheese ball that my Grandma Bryan would make for every Thanksgiving & Christmas get together. I also remember helping my Mom make Sausage Balls and Kolaches for us to have for Christmas morning breakfast. We would make ahead of time so we could have an easy breakfast after opening up presents. Another great memory is making kolaches with several wonderful women that worked with the youth group where I went to church growing up. To sit in their kitchen, making wonderful food and sharing stories was an amazing time for me.

Cheese Ball
1 pkg fresh green onions
1 pkgs sliced thin sliced beef/ham deli meat (car budding brand is what I have used)
Two 8oz pkgs of cream cheese
2 T Miracle Whip
Garlic Powder/Salt to taste

Select three small onions and chop into small pieces. Also chop the sliced meat. Mix with soft cream cheese and Miracle Whip. Add garlic to suit taste. Shape into a ball. Refrigerate until firm. Serve with an assortment of crackers.

Sausage Balls
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 pound hot breakfast sausage (uncooked)
3 cups Bisquick

Combine cheese with sausage and gradually add in Bisquick. Form into 1 inch balls. Place in pans with sides. Bake at 350 until golden brown. Let cool thoroughly.

You can freeze the sausage balls. To re-heat, wrap in foil and heat at 350 until warm.
