Book Review -- Regret Free Parenting

Regret Free Parenting Raise Good Kids & Know You're Doing It Right
by: Catherine Hickem, LCSW

Summary:
Moms have a list of worries a mile long about their parenting. Catherine Hickem shows you how to build companionship, trust, live peacefully and most of all achieve intentional parenting.

My Reaction:
This book wasn't really for me and my family. It mentions that fathers are followers of mothers in parenting and I do not agree with that statement. It is possible that in some households that is true but not in my home. I can see this in a home that the mom is staying home with the children while the dad is working full time, however in our home we both work full time jobs and I work many weekends, leaving Dad to get kids to sports, birthday parties, etc. I don't feel that one parent is the leader of parenting but feel that parenting is a team event. Yes, there are many statements made by Hickman that make you stop and pause to think. I did get a few tidbits of good advice but overall the book wasn't really for me. I am impressed with how Hickman's children speak very highly of their mother, which leads me to believe that she did a good job parenting them and that is all any parent really wants is to be able to look back on their adult children and think they did a good job.
